When you purchase a beef, sheep, hog, or goat at the St. Croix County Meat Animal Auction you get the opportunity to support the local 4-H & FFA program & exhibitors, receive high quality meat for your freezer, and advertising both during the fair and in our next advertisement for next year's auction. Each buyer is guaranteed to receive a high quality meat product. Only the top 100 animals (30 beef, 18 sheep, 50 hogs, and 2 goats) judged at the St. Croix County Fair are eligible to be sold at the auction. Group Purchasing Power Interested in buying an animal but don't know what you are going to do with all of the meat? We have seen buyers put a sign up sheet at their work to interest their employees. The company pays for the beef, sheep, hog, or goat at the fair and charge their employees retail price and write the rest of the cost off as advertising. Remember, it is still a tax deductible donation. What are the processing costs? All beef and sheep go to Eggert's Slaughtering, Inc. south of Clear Lake. All hogs go to Olson's Woodville Meats in Woodville. All goats go to Northlwoods Lockers, LLC near Clayton, WI. All estimated processing charges* are listed below. The beef, sheep, hog, and goat will be shipped off to a local slaughter plant. Beef and sheep will be slaughtered at Eggert's Slaughtering, Inc. south of Clear Lake. Hogs are slaughtered by Olson's Woodville Meats. Goats are slaughtered by Northwoods Lockers, LLC, Clayton, WI. You can have your hogs cut and wrapped at Olson's or send them to your preferred meat processor. Beef, hogs, and goats will need to be sent to another plant for cutting and wrapping. All meat will be state inspected. Advertising your Business Every business that purchases a beef, sheep, hog, or goat at the meat animal auction will get their business name announced and thanked during the auction. We will also include your business name on our auction advertisement next year as a thank you for your participation. |
