Meat Animal

The Meat Animal project creates an incentive for 4-H and FFA exhibitors to carry Livestock Projects and provide an educational experience for all 4-H and FFA exhibitors that will enhance personal growth, responsibility, and expand their knowledge of the livestock industry. The Meat Animal project also provides the 4-H and FFA exhibitors with an economic return; however, exhibitors are to be informed that this may not represent the real economics of the livestock industry and should be used to expand or upgrade their livestock project or for further education. The Meat Animal project provides an educational “learning by doing” activity that allows 4-H and FFA exhibitors to take a livestock project from a young animal to the final marketable product and gives them experience in keeping production and financial records and improves herdsmanship of individual and club exhibits. Finally the Meat Animal project encourages good sportsmanship and develop a cooperative attitude that will lead to a general sharing of knowledge and skills among project exhibitors.

You sign up for the Meat Animal project just like all of the other projects listed and information can be obtained through the Extension office. Click on the Contact Us button to the right to get the contact information for the 4-H office. You can obtain the rules to the Meat Animal Project either through the UWEX office or the Downloads section of our web site. They will be approved a final time on December 4 at the meeting.

The St. Croix County Meat Animal Committee (SCMA) is the committee in charge of this project and provides educational opportunities to further an exhibitor's experiences as an owner of an animal (Beef, Sheep, or Swine). If there are any concerns or educational opportunities you would like to bring to the committee feel free to contact any of the members listed below.
