DEPT. 16  - NATURAL RESOURCE SCIENCE AND NATURESPACE

- All posters must be 14”x 22”

- All specimens must have been collected since September 1

-       All specimens must be named or labeled

-       Competitive shoot will be held for Archery, Rifle, and Air Rifle at the last county shoot

 

CLASS A – BIRDS

Exhibit Suggestions:  Birds (drawn or cut out – identify); bird house (your construction); bird feeder (your construction); poster on any activity from project literature, etc.

CLASS B  -  INSECTS

Exhibit suggestions:  Collection of insects (beginner – 15 species from five different orders, intermediate – 20 species from 5 different orders, advanced – 25 species from 8 different orders);  illustrate life cycle of insect;  killing jar;  parts of insect  & function;  insect survival scrapbook;  chart of activity;  ant activity exhibit;  ant colony;  careers in entomology field, observation of food chain of insects;  endangered insects;  Control of insects in specific situation; any activity suggested in Entomology Literature, etc.

CLASS C  -  TREES/ FORESTRY

Exhibit suggestions:  collection of leaves (beginner – 5, intermediate – 10, advanced – 15);  collection of leaf prints (beginner – 5, intermediate – 10, advanced – 15);  collection of tree seeds (beginner – 5, intermediate – 10, advanced – 15), tree diary, report on a job search, etc.

Competitive Shooting

1.   All shooting sports competitors must attend one orientation session and at least two shooting practice sessions in order to participate in the competitive shoot.

2.   For insurance and safety issues, all competitors must complete the required health form and waiver form before they are able to participate in the competitive shoots.

3.   Competitive Shooting will only be offered for disciplines where there are certified leaders.

4.   In compliance with 4-H guidelines, you MUST be 12 years of age or older to compete in the Rifle, Shotgun, or Muzzleloading shoots.

5.   Dates for the practice shoots and competitive shooting will be announced at the orientation meeting.

6.   Novice groups are entry level groups, that are set up for beginning shooters.  Exhibitors in the Novice group may not enter in another lot number in that class for their age.
